Counties of the Republic of Ireland
In my previous article, I wrote a little about Ireland based on my interest. Now, I am going to discuss the counties in Ireland. There are total 32 counties on the island of Ireland, and 26 of them come together to form the Republic of Ireland.
In the image above, the separation of six counties is clear. These six counties namely; Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone form the Northern Ireland.
What is a County?
A county is a geological area of a nation utilized for managerial or different purposes, in certain advanced countries. A province is quite often a regulatory division, inside a nation or state.
Let us discuss counties of Ireland in alphabetical order.
Carlow
Carlow is situated in the south-east of Ireland. It is the second-smallest county and the third least populated on the Isle of Ireland, with a population of 56,932¹. The total area covered by Carlow county is 89 sq. km.
Carlow is divided into four baronies. A barony is a historical subdivision of a county. The four baronies in Carlow are Carlow, Rathvilly, Idrone East and Forth.
